nitro

Here is a post I never thought I would write, regretfully, yet proudly presenting “Nitro” the ottb that can do it all! “Nitro”, reg. name “Great Work Out”, is a 17.1-17.2hh, 6yr old, dreamboat of a gelding. This boy is a true all arounder, with a little bit of everything to offer. This horse is near and dear to my heart, and this is a hard description to write… Nitro is a love bug, in your pocket, pick me, type of dude. He has tons of personality and loves to nicker when you say his name. He is a doll to work around, and can be handled by kids and beginners. He has no bad stall or barn habits. He has lovely ground manners, and is very gentle to work with. He currently lives out with two geldings and a cow, he is the first one at the gate each morning. He stands cross tied to be groomed, bathed, tacked, etc. He is gentle with picking up his feet, and stands straight tied as well. He is easy to bridle, and over all is a joy to work with. Nitro absolutely loves trail riding. He is brave and confident on the trails. He will lead, follow, go out alone and in groups. He is not spooky, and you can drop your reins and enjoy the ride. He is relaxing and fun. Nitro will stop and stand patiently, he would make a fabulous hunt horse. He is safe with dogs, deer, traffic, bikes, etc. He is so fun on the trails, and makes an amazing adventure partner. I have hauled Nitro to trails and rings and he is the same horse off property every time. He also sits for weeks at a time, I can tack up and go, no silly business or lunging. Nitro rides western, english, and bareback. He is learning both english and western commands. Nitro will move off of leg, pivot, back up, and is learning to neck rein. I ride him in a regular snaffle or my leather bit, he is soft in your hands, and responsive. Nitro is a push style ride in the ring, when you want/let him. He will plop around on a loose rein and be lazy. When you want him to go to work, he will absolutely do that for you as well. Nitro is extremely teachable and intelligent, he does have a work ethic and likes to learn new things! I have not pushed Nitro in anything, everything he has learned has been at an easy pace, everything has been for fun, as he is my personal horse. I have played around with both western and english cues and training. He is also safe around cows, and I have roped off of him, and pulled my steer around with him. He has just been my fun horse, and we have been learning as we go! In the ring, Nitro will walk, trot, canter, knows his leads and has a beautiful lead change. His gaits are uphill and he has the most beautiful canter. He would be a rockstar in western or classical dressage!!! He not a complicated ride, and he is not sensitive or fussy. Nitro will go around on the buckle or you can ask him to collect. This boy can most certainly take a joke, and has put up with me doing all sorts of silly stuff with him. Nitro has been started over fences. He has been honest to every fence I have pointed him at. I have jumped mostly single fences and cross country style jumps, as my plan was to fox hunt him and use him for hunter paces/paper chases. I have introduced him to courses, and he took right to it. I have been mostly jumping around 2’6, I have jumped higher, but he still needs to figure out how to use his long legs over higher fences. Again all of our jumping has been for fun, nothing super formal. But he is game for anything that I ask him to do, and he tries his heart out for me. He really wants to please his rider. Nitro is good for the vet and farrier. He wears front shoes, due to trail riding and rough terrain. No special requirements, maintenance etc. He can live in or out, and currently lives with two geldings and a cow. He does prefer to have a fly sheet in the summer. Nitro is the more dominant horse in his herd, however he is also the biggest. This has been a very hard decision for me. Nitro was to fill the shoes of my boy that I have had forever, as he was ready for a step down job. Nitro is my dream horse and every single thing that I had hoped for, however I am not mentally ready to “replace” my old heart horse, and Nitro deserves to be someone’s, everything. I could see Nitro going into any discipline and being a total rockstar. He is set up to head in absolutely any direction. He is young, handsome, and a very well behaved boy. If you can see Nitro being your next partner, please reach out. I will be picky on where my boy goes, and I am not in a hurry for him to leave, I love riding him. I know his forever home is out there. For any further information please reach out. Shipping can be arranged anywhere.
