Sebastian
“Sebastian” is a 4yr old, 16hh, Percheron/Friesian cross gelding, with the sweetest personality, and a face that you simply can not resist! Don’t let his age deter you, Sebastian is an old soul, who longs for love and loves his people. If you are looking for safe, reliable, fun, and an ultimate all arounder, here is your boy!!!! This boy is sturdy and compact, yet not a monster in height, making him very versatile and friendly for smaller set ups. Sebastian is an amazing trail partner, and would make a great husband horse! This boy rides and drives, and he is a certified sweetie pie. In the barn, Sebastian has zero bad habits. He never complains and doesn’t mind if he is alone or has buddies. He can live in, or out, gets along super well with others and is gentle in a mixed herd. If you are present in the pasture, he will find you and come ask for attention. He stands on the cross ties to be groomed, braided, tacked, etc. He has zero bad habits or stall vices and is as quiet as a mouse in his stall. Sebastian has good ground manners and is safe for beginners, and kids to work around. He is safe with my pups running all around him, and doesn’t mind commotion in the barn. Sebastian is an amazing trail partner. He is quiet, easy going, and brave. He is the perfect mixture of laid back and adventurous. He will walk around all day long on the buckle and follow the group, or take the lead and go off grid pushing through the woods. Sebastian crosses water, logs, bridges, rocks, and is safe with traffic, machinery, bikes, dogs, you name it. He is happy to stop and let hikers pet him. He will ride in the lead, middle, back, and is willing to leave the group and go off on his own, with that, he definitely has the mentality to be a great fox hunter. Drop your reins and enjoy the ride, he will mosey right along. But he is not a dead head and pays attention to his footing, he knows to shift his weight going downhill, takes care of his rider on narrow cliff sides, and is willing and happy to move out asked. You can trot or canter then ask him to come right back down to an easy walk. He would make an awesome mount for someone who is looking for a camping partner, mountain horse, or hunting. He is patient and happy to stop and stand when you ask. On one trail ride, we came across mountain climbers, he didn’t bat an eye at them up above his head, instead he looked up, and watched them, almost in awe. Sebastian ties to the trailer quietly while getting ready, and he is the same horse in new places. This boy is very reliable and the same horse every ride. He loads and trailers well, and fits right into my normal size horse trailer. He is the type of horse that you can throw your husband on and pack his saddle bags full of beer. Go and enjoy the ride! Sebastian rides western, english, bareback and in a plain snaffle. He has very comfortable gaits, and listens great to voice commands. He has a smooth, lofty, canter, in fact one of the most comfortable canters I have ridden on a draft cross. Give a kiss and he will pop right into a lovely canter with smooth transitions. You can adjust his trot from slowwww and pokey to, a more extended trot. He is the perfect combo of whoa and go, he is happy to be lazy and slow yet you don’t need a crop or spurs to ask him to go to work. He is light in your hands and learning to move off of leg. Say “whoa” and he will stop. Sebastian is extremely smart and enjoys learning. He is always happy and doesn’t get upset with his rider. He is the same horse every ride and does not need to be in a routine. Climb on and go have fun. In the ring Sebastian will walk, jog, trot, canter and is learning his leads nicely. He naturally picks up the correct leads every time. While he is still considered green in the arena due to most of his time being spent hacking or trail riding, he is extremely willing, and loves to please his person. He enjoys ring work and learning. This guy has such an amazing brain already, and he is only going to get better. Sebastian has had a light and easy start to life and he takes everything in stride as if he’s done it before. He has not been pushed, and has been worked appropriately for his age. I have not pushed for collection, he is naturally soft in your hands. The videos you see of him trotting trot poles, that was the first time I asked him, you can see him use his brain and figure it out. While drafty, Sebastian is agile and light on his feet. He is not a clumsy, pluggy, no thoughts type of horse. Due to his age, he has only been introduced to jumping recently and has not jumped a lot. The jumping footage you see in his full video is the first time that I asked him to jump, steady and honest he was to every fence. He could easily make an amazing fox hunter. I could also see him dabbling in low level dressage or eventing. This boy is currently set up to head in absolutely any direction. His calm demeanor and people person attitude shows that he could even be a therapy horse. Sebastian is broke to drive single and double. He is quiet and easy under harness. He is patient and will stand around all day. I could see him being a wedding horse, with his beautiful grey color and quiet attitude. I haven’t driven a horse in about a year and a half. I was nervous and of course picked the cold day with 30mph winds. However, Sebastian gave me my confidence back. He was patient with me, and did everything I asked. He is not a fast horse under harness, he is slow and easy going, a Sunday stroll type of guy. He listens to all of your voice commands. He is traffic safe. My driveway is steep, and I asked him to canter up, one kiss and he said yes ma’am, and got us up the hill safely. He stands to harness, hitch, and unhitch. Sebastian is good for the vet and farrier. He can go barefoot or wear shoes. Currently has 4 shoes. He is an easy keeper with no maintenance or supplements. He has no health or soundness issues, good feet and clean legs. Simple diet. Can live out 24/7 or be stalled. Doesn’t need an oversized stall. Up to date on worming, coggins, farrier, and will be due for vaccines this spring. I will pay for a health certificate for shipping. Shipping can arranged anywhere. Here is a gelding that you don’t just find every day. Smart, safe, reliable, in your pocket, and extremely attractive. Sebastian holds a special spot in my heart, as he reminds me so much of my own personal horse Andreas. His quiet demeanor yet athleticism, his kindness, willingness, bravery. Sebastian is a regal young man, with so much to offer. His forever person is going to be very lucky. He is currently set up to head in any direction, and he will be happy doing whatever job his next owner assigns him. He is just happy to be involved. Whether you are looking for a pleasure horse, a show horse, a driving horse, a husband horse, Sebastian is here to fill all of your needs.
